Dr. Amy Vowler
As the founder and Medical Director of The Hair GP, I, Dr. Amy, bring over ten years of experience from my career in NHS GP surgeries and hospitals. My medical journey is driven by a deep passion for dermatology, which led to a focus on hair restoration, encompassing both medical and surgical approaches. I am a proud affiliate member of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery (BAHRS).
My expertise is rooted not only in my extensive experience but also enriched by having had the privilege to study under Professor Gambino, the former head of the Italian Hair Restoration Society, and collaborating with esteemed colleagues at the ISHRS hair restoration course. Beyond my commitments at the clinic, I continue to serve as a GP within the NHS, ensuring I stay at the forefront of both general and specialised medical care. My experience as a GP has given me a holistic approach to patient care, emphasizing the importance of considering the psychological, medical, surgical, and social aspects of each individual’s health.
Outside the realm of medicine, I love nothing more than being outside & by the water. I can often be found paddle boarding in Devon or taking leisurely walks along the Thames Path with my beloved pug. I balance my passion for medicine with a love for the outdoors, finding joy in both caring for others and nature’s simplicity.

Yes, there is a £50 deposit required to book an appointment, which is refundable against any treatment, medical consultation, or diagnostic services provided during your visit. However, if you are scheduling an appointment specifically to discuss whether you are a suitable candidate for a hair transplant, this initial consultation is free of charge.
Prior to your appointment, a team member will reach out to assist you in completing a medical form. Our medical team will review this form to ensure there are no contraindications for treatment. Subsequently, you will receive comprehensive information about your requested treatment, including pre- and post-procedure advice. You will also be invited to schedule your appointment at a convenient time. At this stage of the booking process, an initial deposit will be required to secure your appointment.
Some patients approach us with specific treatments in mind, such as PRP, polynucleotides, or a hair transplant. In such cases, our team can immediately schedule your preferred treatment. However, if you’re unsure about the right option, we recommend booking a medical consultation. During this initial visit, Dr. Amy will thoroughly evaluate your condition, discuss all available treatments, and recommend the best approach tailored to your needs. This consultation also offers the opportunity for necessary blood tests or genetic testing, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of your hair loss and the most effective treatment strategy.
For treatments like PRP or polynucleotides, we suggest booking a package of at least three sessions. Hair growth and restoration occur over a 3-12 month cycle, so results are not typically visible after just one treatment. By committing to a series of treatments, you can fully benefit from these therapies, allowing the natural hair cycle to respond and visibly improve hair density and health. This approach maximises the effectiveness of the treatments, leading to more significant and lasting results.
